Body of missing woman recovered from lake in Virginia, Minn.

The body of a missing woman was recovered from a lake in Virginia, Minnesota, Thursday.

The body of Amanda Bjork—a 30-year-old woman who had been missing since June 26—was found in Bailey’s Lake, according to Hubbard Broadcasting sister station WDIO-TV.

Bjork was noted as a missing person on June 29 after not being in contact with her family since June 26, the Virginia Police Department stated.

Police were advised Bjork frequently swam at Bailey’s Lake, WDIO reported.

Thursday, police spoke with a witness who said he saw someone meeting Bjork’s description swimming at the lake on June 28. Police searched the area and found a gray tank top, headband, black shorts and shoes nearby, which matched the description of clothes she was seen wearing.

Members of the Virginia Fire Department, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Louis County Rescue Squad were notified and launched a water rescue operation.

Authorities found Bjork’s body Thursday at approximately 6:45 p.m., WDIO reported.

Investigators said there was no evidence of foul play.
