It’s a bike shop, a coffee shop, and hopefully much more.
Venture North Bikes is the only Black-owned business of its kind in North Minneapolis.
Kennis Littleton is the new owner, and has reopened the popular shop which closed during the pandemic. Part of his business plan is to help disadvantaged youth in the area.
“The vision and mission is to create a safe place for youth to come and for bike nuts to come and enjoy bicycling in all its forms,” Littleton said.
All the bikes are donated and sold at affordable prices. The shop is also raising community funds to offer free programming to disadvantaged youth. The hope is to launch free build-a-bike programs and mechanic intern programs this spring.
“There’s a lot to do in the bicycle industry,” Littleton said. “There are jobs to be had in manufacturing and in the sales process. We want to be a staple in the community and a foundation in North Minneapolis.”
