BCA: Man shot, killed by police in Olivia identified; no known video of incident

Investigators have identified the man who was shot and killed by a police officer over the weekend in a town nearly 100 miles west of Minneapolis.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said 32-year-old Ricardo Torres Jr., died of multiple gunshot wounds on Sunday.

The BCA also identified the officer who shot Torres as Aaron Clouse, an 11-year law enforcement veteran. He remains on standard administrative leave.

The incident happened at about 2:20 a.m. in an alley in the 800 block of East Lincoln Avenue in Olivia. Police said an "altercation" ensued, and Clouse shot Torres. Torres was taken to a hospital but later died. DPS said a shotgun was recovered from near where Torres was shot.

According to the BCA, Olivia Police doesn’t use body cameras and there’s no dash camera or other known footage of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the BCA at 651-793-7000.
