BCA investigating Willmar police shooting that injured man
State authorities say one person is in custody following an officer-involved shooting in Wilmar late Thursday afternoon.
According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), officers were called to an apartment complex on the 400 block of 15th Avenue SW just after 4:30 p.m. for a report of an armed man who was threatening to kill a probation officer.
When they arrived, officers found a man inside the building. At one point, the BCA says one officer discharged his firearm, and another officer discharged his Taser.
The man, officials say, was shot in his hand and was taken to Carril Health-Rice Memorial Hospital. He was released into police custody and was taken to the Kandiyohi County Jail.
Formal charges are expected to be filed during the next few days.
No other injuries were reported during the incident, which was partly captured on body cameras.
According to the BCA, a replica gun was recovered at the scene.
No names were immediately released Friday afternoon, however, officials say they will be released as the investigation continues.
