5 EYEWITNESS NEWS crews at the scene observed numerous first responder vehicles near the edge of the water at around 1 p.m. Ramsey County deputies were also seen on a boat around the south side of the lake.

According to the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, emergency responders were called to the lake at around 12:10 p.m. on a report of a body in the water.

An off-duty firefighter pulled the body to shore and paramedics then attempted life-saving measures but the sheriff’s office says the victim was pronounced dead.

The victim is believed to be a 77-year-old man who was fishing and had waded into the water, authorities say. However, an investigation is underway to determine what happened.
