Witnesses told responding officers that the driver of the vehicle, identified as Douglas David Peake, exited the vehicle.

When officers located Peake, he fled on foot. During the pursuit, Peake produced a handgun, according to the BCA. Kuznedtsov then discharged his firearm, striking Peake.

Officers later found Peake hiding underneath a vehicle on the 2700 block of 16th Avenue South.

According to the BCA, Peake did not discharge his firearm during the pursuit. A BCA crime scene personnel located a gun believed to have been discarded by Peake inside a trailer boat parked near the vehicle under which he was hiding.

Peake has been charged with one count of possession of a firearm by an ineligible person.
