Anoka-Hennepin School District votes to close Franklin Elementary School next year

Monday night, members of the Anoka-Hennepin School Board voted to close Franklin Elementary as part of a restructuring plan.

There were multiple public hearings on the plan, and the final chance to speak up was Monday night.

Board members voted to close the school in the fall of 2023.

Students attending that school will be moved to nearby schools.

The building will then be used to consolidate two adult special education programs – Bridges and Pathways.

Both of the programs will serve adults ages 18-21 years old, and will offer additional assistance beyond high school.
