Allianz Field in St. Paul recently received approval from the city to sell beer and wine and have food trucks in a new "entertainment district" outside the stadium bordering University Avenue.

The entertainment district will cover what's called "The Great Lawn" area directly in front of Allianz Field and it will be open for every Minnesota United FC match and other events held at Allianz Field.

Wes Burdine, owner of the Black Hart Bar on University Avenue, told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS he does not think the new entertainment district at the stadium will negatively affect bars and restaurants in the neighborhood.

"I mean there are 20,000 people coming down here for soccer matches," Burdine said. "So I think there will still be plenty of business to go around for everyone, but I guess we will just have to wait and see."

Minnesota United starts playing 2020 home games in March, and under the new city ordinance the wine and beer sales, along with the food trucks, could be used for those games next month.
