After nearly 40 years of making music, she’s calling it quits.
Anne Marie Person, the longtime band director at St. Paul’s Johnson High School, is retiring.
“I’ve really enjoyed it,” Person said. “It’s been great, but it’s time to take a rest and let somebody else wave the stick.”
Person started at the school way back in 1986.
Over the decades, Person taught kids and their kids as well.
“We’ve had a lot of, ‘You taught my mom, you taught my dad,’ but I’m getting out before I hear, ‘You taught my grandparents,'” Person said.
Person says she’s looking forward to seeing more sunshine since her music room at the school doesn’t have windows.
