7-year-old injured after shots fired at car in St. Paul
A 7-year-old boy was injured late Tuesday night after gunshots were fired at the car he was inside in St. Paul.
St. Paul Police said officers were called to the 400 block of Thomas Avenue just before midnight after multiple people reported hearing gunshots and screaming.
Arriving officers found the boy had been shot in the leg. Aid was provided at the scene before the boy was taken to a hospital for treatment of the non-life-threatening injury.
Police said the victim’s mother told officers she was in her car with the boy in the back seat when a female suspect began shooting at them from near the fenced door of a duplex.
Officers found several spent casings near the fence, police said, and bullet holes were also found on the car.
Police said a search warrant was executed on the lower unit of the duplex where the shots were fired from and officers found a gun, bullets, a spent casing and suspected narcotics.
An investigation is ongoing but police said the incident appears to be domestic-related.
No arrests had been made as of Wednesday morning.
