6-year-old killed in Cass County snowmobile crash
A 6-year-old girl is dead after a snowmobile crash in northern Minnesota on Monday afternoon.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said it received a report of a crash at a home in Gould Township, in rural Federal Dam, at 3:17 p.m.
First responders arrived at the scene and learned that a 35-year-old woman and a 6-year-old girl had been on a 2004 Ski-Doo snowmobile in their yard when it struck a stump, launching them down an embankment to Leech Lake and into a tree.
CPR was attempted but the 6-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 35-year-old woman was taken to a hospital by ambulance with unspecified injuries.
An investigation is ongoing.
