6-week-old infant dead in western Wisconsin; case under investigation
Police in Menomonie, Wisconsin are investigating an infant death that happened last week.
According to law enforcement, at about 11:36 p.m. Feb. 19, the Menomonie Police Department responded to the 2400 block of Fourth Avenue North on a report of a disorderly male. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man at the door of the residence and were directed inside the apartment to a six-week-old male infant that didn’t have a pulse and was not breathing.
The infant was taken to Red Cedar Mayo Clinic, where he was pronounced dead after further life-saving measures were unsuccessful.
The name of the victim is being withheld at this time to protect the privacy of the victim and the family, according to authorities.
Following the death, police have initiated an investigation with the assistance of the Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation, the Wisconsin State Patrol, Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office, Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and the Dunn County District Attorney’s Office.
The incident remains under investigation. There is no other information available at this time.
