'Happy anniversary, Megan. I love you.' Officer Matson able to wish his wife a happy anniversary

Officer Arik Matson was able to take a deep breath and wished his wife a happy anniversary Tuesday, saying "Happy Anniversary, Megan. I love you."

A post on his CaringBridge page states Matson was able to feed himself some chocolate pudding for the first time and is learning how to swallow again. He is also continuing his physical therapy, working on being able to stand and balance.

The post goes on to say he wished his wife Megan a happy anniversary, although speaking and making his words clear does wear him out.

Matson also had a special guest. The post said he was visited by a little girl named Sophina and her mother. Sophina "love(s) cops" and due to health concerns, is no stranger to hospitals. Matson was thrilled to meet her, the post stated.

While responding to a report of a suspicious person on Jan. 6, Matson was shot in the head. Robert Janovsky is accused of shooting Matson and has been charged with first-degree attempted murder of a peace officer.
