Tuesday, Oct. 25 marks two weeks from Election Day, and while a number of people have already, many more have not.

Out of the more than 467,000 Minnesota voters who have requested mail-in ballots, more than 172,000 have already cast their ballots by mail, according to the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State Office.

If you have yours at home, you’re going to want to get it in the mail sooner rather than later. Election officials recommend sending ballots out by today – Tuesday, Oct. 25 – to make sure they get mailed back in time to be counted on Election Day.

“A third of the ballots we’ve made out have already made their way back here to the elections office, but if you do still have yours at home, feel free to send it on back in,” said Minneapolis Director of Elections and Voter Services Katie Smith

As of now, they’ve seen 13,000 ballots already come in, which is on trend to be ahead of the 2018 election, which was the last governor’s race.

Also, the city of Minneapolis is extending its hours at its early voting centers. Now until the day before the election, centers will be open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The Monday before the election, they will close at 5 p.m.

City officials say they’re doing that to make sure everyone who wants to gets the opportunity to vote.
