Prosecutors have formally charged two teens who were in the vehicle with a 17-year-old who was fatally shot in Brooklyn Park last month.
Court documents show a pair of 17-year-old twins were charged Friday with illegal weapon possession and possession of a ghost gun.
No homicide charges have been formally filed by prosecutors as of Friday afternoon. The shooting and homicide investigations are both ongoing, according to law enforcement.

Police found the teens and 17-year-old Syoka Ehambi Siko inside a vehicle on Interstate 94 at 53rd Avenue North on Nov. 18. Siko and one of the other teens were suffering from gunshot wounds, and Siko later died.
Siko’s mother, Alvera Ross, continues to wait for answers as to who pulled the trigger.
“We’d love to get that justice and closure, once we know that person that killed my son,” Ross said.
Court documents filed Friday state that one of the twins hid the ghost guns in some bushes, which were later recovered by police. Officers determined the guns were loaded with hollow-point rounds and were functional.
“The guns weren’t located in the vehicle, the individuals in the car took time to hid the guns, and through some incredibly diligent police work, the guns were recovered,” Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley said.
Officers also searched the twins’ home and found items related to their online purchase of the gun parts and items used to assemble them. The documents also note that cellphone videos showed the teens holding the guns and loading them with hollow-point ammunition at their home.
“They ordered through the mail a kit to be able to assemble their own ghost gun, I remind you these are 17-year-old children who are able not only order the gun parts but quickly assemble them in their bedrooms and create working firearms,” Bruley added.
Police also said Thursday that they’re looking for another juvenile that was in the vehicle at the time, hoping that the juvenile can shed more light on what happened.
“If anybody who really loved Syoka, I’m begging that you come out and talk, speak what you know, the truth will set you free and everybody free,” Ross said.
Because of their ages and the fact they haven’t been certified as adults in court, 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS isn’t naming the suspects.
