2 killed in Douglas County collision
Two people died Sunday morning after a collision in Osakis.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a two-vehicle collision at about 5:24 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 3 Southeast and Hope Road.
When deputies arrived, they found a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado and a 199 Volkswagen Beetle in the ditch northeast of the intersection.
According to the sheriff’s office, the initial investigation indicates the Silverado was headed north while the Bettle was traveling east and failed to stop at a stop sign. As it went through the intersection, the Beetle was hit by the Silverado on the passenger’s side and the vehicles traveled into the ditch.
The driver of the Silverado, a 19-year-old from Osakis, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Beetle, identified as 24-year-old Scott Johnson, of Glenwood, had serious injuries. The sheriff’s office said life-saving efforts were attempted on Johnson but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger of the Beetle, identified as 21-year-old Zoe Tostenson, of Marshall, was pronounced dead on arrival.
An investigation remains ongoing.
