2 dead after early-morning shooting in Minneapolis, investigation underway
Monday, Minneapolis police are investigating a shooting that left two men dead in south Minneapolis.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers were called at about 2:03 a.m. to the area of East 28th Street and 14th Avenue South after receiving a report of ShotSpotter activation.
Metro Transit police also arrived and found a vehicle crash at the intersection. In checking the two vehicles involved in the crash, police noted one vehicle was empty and a second vehicle contained a man who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police stated the man had reportedly suffered a gunshot wound.
Other responding officers found another man in the middle of the road roughly a block away. That man had also reportedly suffered a gunshot wound. Officers began life-saving measures, however, he was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
Police said crime lab and homicide unit personnel responded to the scene to collect evidence and investigate.
No one is currently in custody in connection with the incident, police said.
The medical examiner is expected to release the official causes of death in the days to come.
