2 arrested in death of 8-year-old girl in Elk River

Two people have been arrested and booked into the Sherburne County Jail for second-degree murder after the death of an 8-year-old girl in Elk River Thursday.

According to a release from the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office, Elk River officers were called to an apartment on 172nd Avenue NW Thursday night for a medical emergency.

When officers arrived, they found the 8-year-old girl not breathing.

Efforts to revive the girl were not successful and the girl was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified upon autopsy as Autumn Hallow and the death was ruled a homicide.

Brett Hallow, 30, and Sarah Hallow, 28, were arrested Friday evening and booked into jail for second-degree murder.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting in the investigation.
