17-year-old boy dead following shooting in Minneapolis
A 17-year-old boy is dead after a shooting in Minneapolis on Monday night.
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS is at the scene of the shooting on East 25th Street and captured crime scene tape as well as several squads in the area around 10 p.m.
The Minneapolis Police Department on Tuesday told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS the shooting occurred outside of the boy’s residence around 7:13 p.m.
While standing outside the residence with others when shots were fired.
The 17-year-old ran inside the house and collapsed.
When officers arrived, they said the boy was inside the residence and had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
They attempted life-saving measures at the house, but the boy died.
“Another act of gun violence and another juvenile shot dead,” said Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara. “This senseless act of gun violence has destroyed another young life and left another family with a life of grief. We are asking anyone in the community with information to help our investigators by providing any information they have about this incident. We all must work together to end this level of violence in our neighborhoods.”
No arrests have been made at this time, and investigators are still working to determine what happened leading up to the shooting.
