3 law enforcement officers shot while responding to domestic call in western Minnesota
Three law enforcement officers were shot while responding to a domestic call in Cyrus around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office said.
An officer from Starbuck and two Pope County deputies were shot, according to authorities.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s Force Investigations Unit is responding to the incident, a representative told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.
The Pope County Sheriff’s Office said there is no ongoing threat to the public at this time.
Rep. Paul Anderson (R-Starbuck) and Rep. Mary Franson (R-Alexandria), who both represent Pope County in the Minnesota House of Representatives, sent out a joint statement in reaction to the shooting:
“We are heartbroken about tonight’s incident in Cyrus — this is a tragic reminder of the dangers that our public safety professionals face protecting our communities. Please join us in praying for the families of the officers, the community of Cyrus, the Starbuck Police Department, and the Pope County Sheriffs Office.”
