Police say a pedestrian was killed and another was injured Monday evening after being struck by a vehicle in downtown Minneapolis.
A police spokesperson said the crash happened just before 5:45 p.m. in the area of Marquette Avenue and 10th Street.
According to police, investigators learned the suspect vehicle was traveling northbound on Marquette Avenue when it entered into the intersection of 10th Street at a red light. The suspect vehicle was then struck by another vehicle that was traveling on 10th Street, causing the suspect vehicle to spin and hit the two pedestrians.
After being hit by the vehicle, the two pedestrians went through a plate-glass window of a nearby business.
Both victims were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other victim remains in critical condition.
Cheyanne Harrison lives nearby and heard the crash.
"I was sitting in my apartment, and I heard this big crash and screaming," Harrison said. "So, I came running downstairs.
There was blood everywhere, and there was glass … Extremely scary to see and hear that happen to someone."
According to police, the driver of the suspect vehicle showed "signs of possible impairment."
Neither driver involved in the crash were injured.
