1 of 2 St. Cloud suspicious deaths ruled homicide

UPDATE:

One of the two suspicious deaths being investigated by St. Cloud police has been ruled a homicide.

According to the St. Cloud Police Department, officers were called 1400 block of 12th Avenue North on the report of a deceased woman inside of an apartment.

Thursday, the woman was identified as 28-year-old Janesa Lashay Harris.

The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her death as a homicide and determined the cause of death was due to a gunshot wound.

At this time, police are still investigating a suspicious death on the 4300 Block of Cooper Avenue South.


The St. Cloud Police Department is investigating two suspicious deaths in as many days.

According to police, at 9:21 a.m. on Wednesday, officers were dispatched to 1400 Block of 12th Avenue North, where they found the body of a deceased woman inside an apartment.

Then on Thursday at 9:30 a.m., officers responded to the 4300 Block of Cooper Avenue South, where they found another deceased woman on the edge of the road that appeared suspicious.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) Crime Scene Team is also assisting with processing both scenes as police investigate the suspicious deaths.

More information is expected to be released at a later time. At this time, there is no known correlation between the deaths.
