1 killed in early Sunday morning wrong-way crash on Highway 169

A passenger in a vehicle hit by a wrong-way driver is dead following a crash on Highway 169 near Jordan.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol report, the crash happened at 3:19 a.m. Sunday in St. Lawerence Township at Highway 169 and Delaware Avenue.

It says a 34-year-old Chaska man was driving his Ford Explorer the wrong way, heading north, in the southbound lanes of traffic on Highway 169. The driver crashed head-on into a Nissan Rogue carrying three people that was traveling the correct direction on the highway.

A 19-year-old female passenger in the Nissan Rogue was killed in the crash. The woman is from Hutchinson. The other driver and passenger in the vehicle both have non-life threatening injuries.

The driver traveling the wrong way was uninjured. It is unknown at this time if alcohol was involved, the report says. The State Patrol says it will release the name of the passenger who was killed on May 24th.
