1 killed, 1 critically injured after construction site accident in Meeker County

One person was killed and another was critically injured in a construction site accident in Harvey Township on Friday.
According to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and medical personnel were called to a construction site in the 31700 block of State Highway 22 on a report of an industrial accident at 11:46 a.m.
First responders pronounced one victim dead at the scene while a second person was airlifted with critical injuries to St. Cloud Hospital.
The sheriff’s office said an initial investigation indicates a stabilizing platform for a concrete boom truck gave way, causing the boom to fall to the ground. The two victims were struck by the boom as it fell.
The victims’ names will be released at a later time.
The accident remains under investigation.
