1 in custody after hours-long standoff in Waseca

One person was taken into custody after a standoff in Waseca that began Monday evening.

Waseca police officers received a call at approximately 6:25 p.m. about a man allegedly with a gun at a residence on the 500 block of Seventh Avenue SE. The caller told police that the man had been using methamphetamine for a number of days and had been hallucinating.

Officers were outside the residence for several hours before they were able to make the arrest. The Waseca Police Department identified the man as 39-year-old David Huff.

A search of the home recovered firearms, ammunition, methamphetamine and other controlled substances. 

The New Richland and Janesville police departments, as well as the Le Sueur County SWAT team, assisted at the scene.

Authorities have not disclosed information on possible charges.

Police said his initial court appearance is set for Wednesday.
