1 in critical condition after Thursday afternoon Minneapolis shooting
A man is in critical condition after a shooting Thursday afternoon in the Ventura Village neighborhood of Minneapolis.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers responded to 911 calls reporting gunfire and a person possibly shot at 4:21 p.m. near East Franklin Avenue and Chicago Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, police found a man with apparent gunshot wounds.
The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
People nearby the scene described gunfire coming from a vehicle and stated that the victim was on the sidewalk when he was shot, police said. Whether the victim was an intended target is unknown.
Officers, including homicide investigators, collected evidence and documented the scene. Police said the homicide unit was involved "due to the nature of the injuries to the adult."
