1 dead in north Minneapolis shooting

Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened early Wednesday morning in north Minneapolis.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, a fight broke out between two people around 12:30 a.m. at 29th and Girard avenues north, and the male victim was shot.

When officers arrived, they found the victim with a gunshot wound, police said. Officers administered first aid, and the victim was then rushed to North Memorial Medical Center. He was pronounced dead on arrival.

The suspect fled the scene before officers could arrive, and no one is in custody at this time.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the victim's identity and cause of death in the coming days.
