1 dead in Mounds View shooting; no one in custody

Police say one person was fatally shot Wednesday afternoon in Mounds View.

At 4:27 p.m., Mounds View police officers responded to calls of gunfire, a person possibly shot and a vehicle fleeing. They went to an initial scene on County Road I near Woodlawn Drive and a second scene at Mounds View Boulevard and Pleasant View Drive. Upon arriving at the second location, officers found an unresponsive man on the ground near a vehicle.

Despite lifesaving measures by police, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Though officers have "numerous leads," no suspects are identified or in custody.
