1 dead in early-morning shooting in north Minneapolis

A man in his late teens is dead Tuesday morning after a reported shooting in north Minneapolis.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers responded to the 5100 block of Dupont Avenue North at about 2:16 a.m. after receiving 911 reports of the sound of shots fired in the area.

Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Lifesaving measures and CPR were attempted, however, paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Police said multiple people at the scene were transported downtown where detectives interviewed them.

No one is currently in custody in connection with the incident, police said.

The incident remains under investigation and the medical examiner is expected to release the victim’s identity and official cause of death in the days to come.
