A teenager is dead and another person is recovering in the hospital after a shooting in the Dinkytown neighborhood of Minneapolis.
Minneapolis Police said officers responded to the 400 block of 13th Avenue Southeast at about 11 p.m. on a report of shots fired. A short time later, another report indicated someone had been shot.
Officers arrived at the scene and found a teen suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man was found to be suffering non-life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound.
"We have two parties involved, that we believe. One is deceased, one is in the hospital," John Elder, director of public information with the Minneapolis Police Department, said. "We are not looking for anyone else in addition to the two individuals we have."
Police added they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety as a result of this incident.
Investigators said they recovered three guns from the scene.
The man who was hurt suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and is expected to be OK, police said.
The incident remains under investigation. Crime Lab personnel documented the scene and collected evidence and detectives were working to speak with several people who may have information related to the incident.
The medical examiner is expected to release the identity of the person who died in the coming days.
Editor’s note: A previous version of this story listed the victim killed in the shooting as an adult, based on information from police. Minneapolis Police later corrected the information to say the victim was actually a juvenile.
