1 dead, 2 hospitalized after Yellow Medicine County crash

One woman is dead and two others are in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash around 7:30 p.m. Friday in Yellow Medicine County.

A Minnesota State Patrol report released Saturday afternoon states a car and truck were driving opposite directions on Highway 75 near 190th Avenue in Norman Township when they collided.

The driver and sole occupant of the car, 32-year-old Maria Hanson of Hendricks, died at the scene.

The two truck occupants, 42-year-old Steven and Sarah Bednarek of Canby, were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Both of the truck’s occupants were wearing their seatbelts. Hanson was not wearing her seatbelt, according to the report.

Alcohol was said to be a factor in the crash. Although State Patrol did not say if weather was a factor, roads were wet at the time.
