A shooting in Uptown Minneapolis early Sunday morning left 12 victims with gunshot wounds, one of whom died, according to police.

Minneapolis Police said, at 12:37 a.m., several 911 callers reported multiple people had been shot on the 2900 block of Hennepin Avenue South.

When police arrived on the scene, they located several people suffering from gunshot wounds, and multiple ambulances responded and transported victims to Hennepin County Medical Center. Police said others were transported to area hospitals in private vehicles.

A preliminary investigation reveals that individuals on foot started shooting in the mid-2900 block of Hennepin Avenue South and proceeded north. People began to scatter and the suspects fled.

After checking area hospitals, police said a total of 12 victims with gunshot wounds were associated with the incident.  All injured persons are adults, according to police.
