1 dead, 1 injured in overnight St. Paul crash

Police say one person is dead and another is recovering from injuries following a crash during the overnight hours Sunday.

According to St. Paul police, officers were called to the Robert Street Bridge and Shepard Road at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday for a report of a single vehicle crash.

After arriving at the scene, officers say they found an eastbound Dodge Ram pickup truck abruptly went off the right side of the road, and eventually hit support structures along the Mississippi River after crashing into the fence.

Police say the driver, identified as a man, was ejected on impact and died at the scene.

Meanwhile, a second man was found inside the vehicle, and was taken to Regions Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

As of this time, police say speed was an indicator in the crash, however, it is still being investigated.

The names and ages of those involved weren’t immediately provided.
