1 dead, 1 hurt after shooting in south Minneapolis

Minneapolis police are investigating a shooting Monday night in the city’s Phillips neighborhood that left one person dead and another hurt.

According to police spokesman John Elder, the homicide occurred near the intersection of East 26th Street and Cedar Avenue South.

Police said both a man and a juvenile male found at the scene had suffered gunshot wounds. Police said the man was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center and the juvenile male was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a preliminary investigation, police stated two groups of people were shooting at each other and that the groups had left the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
