1 dead, 1 critically injured in north Minneapolis shooting

One person is dead and another is seriously injured in a shooting Monday evening in north Minneapolis.

According to Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder, the shooting happened on the 700 block of West Broadway Avenue at about 6:28 p.m.

Elder said callers reported a male victim was being loaded into a private vehicle to be taken to a hospital, and local hospitals were put on alert to watch for a shooting victim to arrive.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a woman believed to be in her 30s already dead, Elder said. Minutes later, officers were told the male victim had arrived at North Memorial Medical Center and was in critical condition.

Police said initial information indicates a male suspect shot the two victims and then ran away. Investigators are still working to determine what led up to the shooting.

No arrests have been made at this time.
