Shooting in Minneapolis Friday night leaves 1 dead

One person is dead after a shooting in Minneapolis Friday night, 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS has learned from a Minneapolis Police Department spokesperson.

Minneapolis police from the third precinct responded to a report of a shooting near the intersection of East 38th Street and Chicago Ave South at about 7:47 p.m. 

The victim of the shooting, a man in his 40s, was taken to the hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead later Friday night, according to Minneapolis Police.

Investigators determined that the shooting happened inside of a residence in the area.

This is the 14th homicide of 2022 in Minneapolis.

No arrests have yet been made.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner is expected to release the victim’s name and cause of death once it is determined.
