7.1 million gallons of sewage overflows into Lake Superior
Over 7.1 million gallons of sewage from the city of Ashland, Wisconsin’s water treatment plant overflowed into Lake Superior, according to WDIO-TV, a Hubbard-owned station.
The overflow began Sunday and ended Tuesday morning, according to authorities.
The overflow was due to a high amount of inflow from rain and snowmelt.
WDIO reports the city is taking steps to limit any public health hazard.
