Warm weather prompts outdoor rink closure in St. Paul
On Tuesday, the St. Paul Parks and Recreation announced the closure of all outdoor ice rinks due to the warm weather. Skating and broomball may resume on Thursday.
According to the department’s website, skating on soft ice can cause “irreparable damage” to the rinks, which could cut the usage season short.
The city thanked the skating public for their patience.
St. Paul operates seven outdoor rinks, of which three are refrigerated. Three city rinks are designated for broomball use.
