Man arrested in connection to fatal shooting in Hinckley

A Chisago City man is in custody on suspicion of murder in connection with a fatal shooting that happened Tuesday in Hinckley.

According to the Pine County Sheriff’s Office, a man had dropped off a shooting victim at Essentia Hospital around 6 a.m. The victim died shortly after.

Hospital staff gave dispatchers the license plate number and description of the vehicle the man used to bring the victim to the hospital, and sheriff’s deputies tracked him down and took him into custody around 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Officials say the shooting happened somewhere on Lake Alma Road in Hinckley.

The 36-year-old suspect is being held at the Pine County Jail on probable cause for second-degree murder but has yet to be formally charged.

The victim will be identified following an autopsy by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
