Barn fire leaves dozens of sheep dead in Carlton County
Approximately 70 sheep died in a pole barn fire Wednesday afternoon in northern Minnesota, the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call about a building on fire at 12:26 p.m. in the 300 block of Koski Road in Thomson Township, northwest of Cloquet.
Upon their arrival, the building was found to be engulfed in flames.
The Elko, Wrenshall, Carlton and Cloquet fire departments assisted to put out the blaze.
The property owner was not home at the time of the fire.
The sheriff’s office says that the cause of the fire is unknown but deemed not suspicious given initial facts.
