Man dies in first of two fatal overnight shootings in Minneapolis
Despite efforts by Minneapolis police, fire and emergency medical personnel, a man died after being shot in Minneapolis Saturday night.
Minneapolis police found the man, judged to be in his late 20s, in the street with life-threatening gunshot wounds near the 2600 Block of South Cedar Avenue.
Various reports of gunshots and 911 calls around 9:50 p.m. had alerted 3rd Precinct officers and Minneapolis Park Police to the 2500 block, where police believe the man was shot before collapsing down the street.
The victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where he died.
Police said they received reports of a vehicle fleeing the scene, but no arrests have been made.
The Minneapolis Police Forensic Division has processed the scene and collected evidence.
The Minneapolis Police Homicide Division has started to investigate.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the victim’s name and details surrounding his death.
Police said this was the 37th death investigated as a homicide this year, with the 38th occurring just hours later in Minneapolis.
