Xcel Energy offers energy-saving tips during heat wave

With a heat wave hitting the Twin Cities through Wednesday, Xcel Energy is offering advice for customers to stay comfortable but also keep their energy bills low.

Xcel Energy states some basic advice to lower bills includes installing a programmable thermostat to raise the temperature when people aren’t at home, adding ceiling fans to rooms and leaving doors open for rooms with poor air circulation.

Closing drapes and blinds can also keep rooms cooler.
