Worker dies at 3M plant in Alexandria

An employee at the 3M plant in Alexandria died overnight, the company said in a news release Tuesday.

“We are reaching out to the employee’s family to offer support, and our thoughts are with the employee’s family and friends,” 3M said in a statement.

It was not immediately clear how the employee died.

3M said it followed emergency protocols upon learning of the incident and contacted police and fire officials as well as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

“At 3M, the safety and health of all our employees is our top priority,” the company said. “We are working closely with the authorities as they conduct their investigation.”

The plant was closed as of Tuesday afternoon.
