Woman struck by bullet while in car, crashes into tree in South Minneapolis

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS is working to learn more about a late-night shooting in south Minneapolis.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, at 11:25 p.m. officers responded to a report of a car that had struck a tree in the area of Cedar Avenue S and 38th Street East. While en route to the scene, police learned this incident was a shooting.

Preliminary investigation shows that a man and woman were in a vehicle when it was shot at by an unknown person or persons. The woman was struck, causing the vehicle to crash into a tree. The suspect(s) fled prior to police arriving at the scene.

This case in still under investigation and there is no other information available at this time.
