UPDATE: Pregnant woman dies after being shot, found in Lakeville parking lot; man in custody

UPDATE: A woman who police say was pregnant died at the hospital after being found in a Lakeville parking lot with a gunshot wound, according to a news release from the Lakeville Police Department.

Family members identified the woman as 31-year-old Kyla O’Neal.

Police say staff at the Hennepin County Medical Center were able to deliver the baby Sunday night. The baby’s condition is unknown at this time.

The man believed to be involved in the shooting was identified by police as 32-year-old Donte Rapheal McCray from Minneapolis. He is being held at the Dakota County Jail on suspicion of second-degree manslaughter but hasn’t been formally charged. Police say that he has “employment affiliation” at the Amazon facility where the woman was found.

PREVIOUS COVERAGE: A woman is fighting for her life after she was found with a gunshot wound in the parking lot of a Lakeville Amazon warehouse.

Lakeville police say they responded to the call just before 7 p.m. Sunday after getting information about a 31-year-old woman with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle.

She was then taken to the hospital for what first responders say are life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe that a man who knows the victim was involved in the shooting. He was found at the scene by officers and is currently cooperating with their investigation.

Police add that they do not believe anyone else is involved, and that there is no threat to the public.

The names of the woman and man suspected to be involved haven’t been released as of this time.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting in the investigation.
