Wildfire at Scenic State Park 50% contained, DNR says

Firefighters were battling a wildfire near Bigfork, Thursday night.

According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the fire was about 10 acres in size at Scenic State Park at around 10 p.m.

The DNR said the fire was burning in mature pine and brush in the remote northeast corner of the park and was about 50% contained as of Thursday night.

The park remained open, including the Chase Point and Lodge campgrounds, the DNR said. However, the two hike-in backcountry campsites on Pine Lake were closed due to their proximity to the fire.

The Minnesota Incident Command System was coordinating fire suppression efforts.

It’s unclear how the fire started.
