White Earth man struck by snowplow
A snowplow struck a 39-year-old man in Callaway Township early Wednesday morning, authorities say.
According to the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, a county highway department plow truck hit a man who was lying on County Highway 21, west of Somdahl Road, just after 3 a.m.
Officials say the driver of the snowplow provided aid until first responders arrived.
The victim’s injuries are unknown at this time, however, when emergency personnel arrived at the scene, the victim was unconscious and “had no obvious signs of trauma,” the sheriff’s office says.
He was transported to Essentia St. Mary’s hospital in Detroit Lakes. Personnel from the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, White Earth Tribal Police and St. Mary’s EMS responded to the scene.
Authorities say the road was covered with snow and ice, with strong winds blowing snow at the time of the incident. The incident is still under investigation.
