Weekend events July 15-17
Here’s a roundup of metro-area events this weekend:
Duluth Airshow featuring the Air Force Thunderbirds
The Air Force Thunderbirds will return to the North Shore for the largest air show in Minnesota this weekend.
It’s happening at the Duluth Air Show, where you can also see the F-35 Lightning – the Air Force’s fifth-generation fighter jet.
Tickets are available start at $25 for adults, and youth tickets are free with the purchase of an adult one.
The event runs both Saturday and Sunday.
Street Machine Nationals
Friday is the first day you can catch the Street Machine Nationals at the state fairgrounds.
The showcase of custom cars and “autocross shows” is now underway and goes through Sunday.

Lumberjack Days in Stillwater
Lumberjack Days is back in Stillwater for the first time in three years.
From lumberjack shows to a farmers’ market, there is something for everyone to check out over the next three days. There is also live music throughout the weekend.
Friday night is the down-hill derby race, one of the biggest events at Lumberjack Days.
It’s all happening in the city’s downtown area.
Fish for Walleye on Lake Mille Lacs
You’ll once again be able to fish for walleye on Lake Mille Lacs.
The two week closure is over Saturday, and will allow only catch-and-release for walleye until Aug. 31. That’s when the one fish limit will be back in place.
Live bait can once again be used starting Saturday.
World-Champion Rib-Eating Championship
World-champion competitive eater Joey Chestnut is coming to Minnesota this weekend to compete in the world rib-eye championship at the Great Midwest Rib Fest.
Chestnut is looking to beat his old world-record, and will need to eat almost 14 pounds of pork in just 12 minutes.
