Weekend events Aug. 19-21

A variety of events will be taking place this weekend in the metro.

Here’s a roundup of events:

FRIDAY

Minnesota Twins at Home

The Minnesota Twins take on the Texas Rangers at home, starting with a Friday game at 7:10 p.m. Single-game ticket information can be found here.

St. Paul Saints at Home

The Saints will face the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders at home on Friday, starting at 7:07 p.m. Single-game ticket information can be found here.

SATURDAY

Art and All That Jazz

The “Art and All That Jazz 2022” event will be held Saturday in Burnsville’s Nicollet Commons Park.

Event organizers say the event benefits The 30-Days Foundation, a charity helping Minnesotan families and individuals struggling with financial crisis.

The event takes place from 12-10 p.m.

Minnesota Vikings Preseason Game

The Minnesota Vikings are gearing up to host their first at-home preseason game. Saturday’s preseason game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. kickoff at U.S. Bank Stadium.

SUNDAY

HopeFest

HopeFest, a music festival organized by nonprofit Wings for Widows, is set to take place at the Hilde Performance Center in Plymouth on Sunday.

The event features nine artists performing on two stages.

Tickets can be purchased here and gates are set to open at 12 p.m.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

Minneapolis Institute of Arts events

For the first time, the Minneapolis Institute of Art has two special exhibits going at the same time.

Van Gogh and the Olive Groves” runs through Sept. 18. Tickets are $16 for adults; those ages 17 and under get in for free.

In addition to the Van Gogh exhibit, “Dressed by Nature: Textiles of Japan” features clothing and textiles made from materials like fish skin, paper, banana leaf fiber and deerskin.

It’s a must-see for those interested in dyeing, weaving, sewing and other clothing and textile-making techniques.

That exhibit runs through Sept. 11. Tickets are $20 for adults; those ages 17 and under get in for free.

Minnesota Twins at Home

The Minnesota Twins again face the Texas Rangers at home on Saturday at 6:10 p.m. and Sunday at 1:10 p.m. On Saturday, there will be a Twins Hall of Fame pre-game ceremony for Ron Gardenhire and on Sunday, there will be a pre-game ceremony for Dan Gladden and Cesar Tovar. Renaissance Festival

The 2022 Minnesota Renaissance Festival, also known as “Ren Fest,” kicks off this weekend.

The weekend event is held in Shakopee through Oct. 2, from 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

Slavic Experience Festival

An inaugural event is set to take place Saturday and Sunday in Minneapolis.

The “Slavic Experience” festival will celebrate Eastern and Central European culture through food, music, art and games. The event will also raise money for the Ukrainian relief effort, organizers say.

The event will be held from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday.

St. Paul Saints at Home

The Saints face the RailRiders at home for a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 5:07 p.m., then again for a game at 2:07 p.m. on Sunday. Single-game ticket information can be found here.
