2 in custody following Washington Co. police chase
Authorities say two people are in custody following a vehicle and foot chase in Washington County.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a trooper tried stopping a Ford Focus near Interstate 94 and Stagecoach Trail shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday.
The driver didn’t immediately stop, and once pulled over, the driver and passenger didn’t respond to commands telling them to get out of the vehicle, according to the State Patrol. Instead, they left the scene and exited onto Highway 95.
Soon after, authorities say the driver and passenger abandoned the vehicle near the St. Croix River on Rivercrest Road North but were eventually found after a foot chase and search near Quant Avenue North and St. Croix Ridge.
A 19-year-old from St. Paul was identified as the driver and was booked on outstanding warrants and for suspicion of fleeing police in a motor vehicle.
The 20-year-old passenger was booked on suspicion of obstructing the legal process without force and fleeing an officer.
